
About Rachel
Rachel graduated with a first-class degree from Brighton University in Dance & Visual Art, her specialism is screen dance and installation, she received a scholarship in Dance at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts where she graduated with distinction. In Liverpool she realised her love for contemporary dance and it was a natural transition from competitive gymnastics.
Following her degree Rachel won the prestigious award at Brighton University, The Burt, Brill and Carden’s Award for outstanding achievement and excellence and was later comissioned as Elevator Artist at the National Review of Live Art, New Territories in Glasgow presenting an award-winning screen dance installation ‘Refraction’. She won finalist in experimental film at the D&AD Dazed and Confused ‘Re:Creation' Awards, exhibiting Refraction at the D&AD Award event in London. She later worked on the ‘Capture’ series Dance for Screen with Liz Aggiss and Billie Cowie, as assistant director of photography on Anarchic Variations and Men in the Wall, a stereoscopic four screen installation.
She has been fortunate to be taught by Carol Brown, Annie Pui Ling Lok, Charlie Morrisey and Liz Aggiss. Rachel was later taught by Franz von Habsburg FBKS at the Brighton Film School on a year, long Graduate Diploma in film, she worked in teams on films with the Brighton Film School and the Northern Film School on a variety of productions. She then worked as a photographer directing photo shoots in London.
Rachel works from Copperdot as a Dance Artist and Choreographer. At present she is furthering a number of strands of her practice. These include Artistic Direction for film, live performance and immersive environments.
Rachel is inviting professional dance artists and creators at particular stages in their career to begin to explore their journeys together. She hopes that new collaborations will be ignited and is encouraging the sharing of practice.
